TIPU SULTAN & SADDAM HUSSEIN
British sources described Tipu Sultan as a “furious fanatic”, who had “perpetually on his tongue the projects of jehad”. He was also deemed to be “oppressive and unjust”. Wellesley began a campaign of vilification against Tipu, portraying him as an aggressive Muslim. Tipu was duly invaded and killed in the war of 1799.
