Origin of word F**k? Is it true?

by voxpopuli @ 2006-09-12 - 18:24:10

DID YOU KNOW?

In ancient England people could not have sex unless they had consent of the king (unless they were in the Royal Family).
When people wanted to have a baby, they had to get the consent of the king, and the king gave them a placard that they hung on their door while they were having sex. The placard had F.U.C.K. (Fornication Under Consent of the King) on it. Hence that's where the word F*ck came from.

My friend has sent me this mail.
Have you heard of this?
Is it true?

This story isn't true. The word is merely derived from the original Old English word meaning exactly the same.

Thanks.
I heard it(rather read it)for first time and I was not convinced at all about it.

Plus it would be much more likely that it was members of the Royal family who had to get permission since they would be the ones producing rival heirs. Commoners could do what they liked.

That's true. There is some benefit of being commoner.
Thanks.

Actually it does mean what you say it does. true potential heirs would get permision to f.u.c.k. from the king....although the king had first option to do the deed himself to seal the marriage. hence the phrase, "Its good to be King"
